Hello Experts,
How can component availability be made as a hard constraint in scheduling in APO ?
If the component is not available on time for processing FG, what is the behavior in scheduling ? does it only show a due date alert ? or can the component non availability restrict the FG planned order processing in some ways ?
Regards
Alin
Hi Alin,
For a DS function (e.g. drag&drop or DS heuristic), this is generally controlled in the consideration of Fixed/Dynamic Pegging in the strategy settings, as per thread .
During order creation (e.g. manual or via PP heuristic or via ATP), the component availability can be checked based on the settings of the Planning Procedure: PP Planning Procedures - Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) - SAP Library

Alin,
Use either Capable To Match (CTM) or Optimizer. For these engines, component availability in standard can be configured as a hard constraint during the planning run.
Capable to Promise (CTP) can also be configured to respect component availability as standard.
If you are using heuristic-based scheduling, you will have to get creative, since component availability is not really a planning or scheduling function. Some people have had some success adding bottom-up scheduling steps to their planning runs. Speak to your local APO Planning experts.
