Hi All,

We have the scenario RNIF > PI > SAP, when partner is trying to connect the SAP PI they are getting an error as below

PIP terminated - Error sending HTTP/S message to https://hostname:port/Messagingsystem/... received HTTP response "699". Error connecting to https://hostname at port. Received fatal alert: handshake_failure

this is the log provide by our partner while they are trying to send the message to the SAP PI system.

Could any one plz suggest what is the exact issue.

Hello Rahul,

seems like higher TLS version is expected. Try to update the TLS library.

could you please clarify on it. if it is like a web dispatcher upgrade, then it was upgraded already.

No, this is a common cryptographic library for the whole stack

I have checked and noticed that currently we are in SSLV3 it is using, I dont know the command to check the TLS version.

And one more this I hope this is not the TLS issue, because we have already Implemented one scenario PIP3A4 and the messages are processing vice versa.

But when we tried to do another one PIP3A7 (Inbound) we are facing this issue.

But do these both scenarios (PIP3A4 and PIP3A7) interact with the same service?

Regarding TLS update, you can refer to SAP Note #2284059

Hi Vadym,

Thanks for the information.....you're correct the issue is with the TLS updated . Partner is using the SSLV3 instead of the TLS version... It got resolved now....

One thing I would suggest considering it works for one PIP and not for another would be to check,

1. Is the URL used by your Partner the same? Is it the same source system from which they trigger the call? Could be the case where each PIP is triggered from different systems?

2. Check the defaultrace file for when this message was triggered by your partner. See what the logs here say. Did it reach the RNIF Container or did it get terminated before the same. I do think it would have been terminated before the same as the logs denote SSL issue but worth a check.

3. If there is a webdispatcher between the Partner and PI, check the Webdispatacher logs. Is there something there that is making the connection terminate for one and not the the other.

HI Bhavesh,

1. the url used by the partner is same as the old PIP & they are triggering from the same system.

2. when the partner tried to trigger the PIP he got the log as the below

.

PIP terminated - Error sending HTTP/S message to https://hostname:port/Messagingsystem/... received HTTP response "699". Error connecting to https://hostname at port. Received fatal alert: handshake_failure

3. I have checked in Web dispatcher but there is hits from the partner, So I have requested network/firewall team to check if they have any logs. But there also We dont have any logs...So, mostly the issue is with the partner's end.. We will check with partner and let u know if we find any issues....:)
