Hi Everyone!
A customer is planning to implement on his ERP EHP7 on HANA (database). They currently have interfaces running on PI 7.11 (PI 7.1 EP 1).
The interfaces are mainly running using ABAP Proxies as adapters to ECC, some RFC and one is using ccBPM.
After the HANA DB upgrade they will migrate to S/4 HANA.
They want to know if it's also necessary to do an upgrade in PI enviroment to maintain the interfaces correctly running.
Thanks in advance!
Juan.
The best way to answer this is to run the SAP Upgrade Dependency Analyzer - http://service.sap.com/uda
The Upgrade Dependency Analyzer will definitely complaint that your PI 7.1 system is not supported with a ECC EHP7. See the result below :
Technically speaking - all interfaces are likely to continue to work with PI 7.1 but as a result of this disclaimer from SAP, if there are any issues that occur between ECC and PI; you will likely to get a answer from SAP that states this version is not supported and hence please upgrade your PI Server. I have seen customers take the risk and not upgrade their PI Server and I have seen customers say I would rather be safe and upgrade PI. At the end of the day, it becomes an answer of Risk vs Cost vs Strategic long term vision for PI etc.
Having said the above - the "correct answer" is - It is mandatory to upgrade PI!

Bhavesh
