ERP-60 NW-7.40 SPS13, EHP7-SPS11, enqueue-issues, separate ASCS ?

two month ago,

we did an upgrade to ERP-60 NW-740 SPS13, EHP7 SPS11, Kernel-742_PL328,

since this week,

we have an issue with enqueue-WP,

several (>100) restarts of enqueue-WP, up to system-freeze

after opening a SAP-support-ticket, we got advice to sap-note 2306750 ( https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2306750 ) and the advice to

  1. update SAP-kernel to latest Kernel 7.42 PL >400
  2. splitt enqueue in a separate ASCS-instance

asking some times ago,

i remember getting the answer, that ASCS is only needed for very large SAP-Systems

Hi Christoph,

The first stuff would be "your solution" as described in the note you refer to.

The second part is "just the general recommendation" - as of now, SAPinst no longer supports to install with just one instance number !

=> with any "official" system copy you end up in 2 numbers. Therefore, you might want to switch in 6-24 month - even when not needed because of performance.

As 7.45 is DCK and the only 7.3 released kernel, you should at least think on updating to 7.45 Patch 117 or higher.

Hi, Volker,

thanks for your reply,

after brainstorming (what has been changed,  what is used new since this week)

we think we have found the cause of that enqueue-issue since this week.

for a special business case we need to use a (some years ago) developed Z-Programm (which was created by external developer) and which is using the function-module ENQUE_READ2 (see sapnote 2306750) which is not officially supported to be used by customers purpose.

so we will upgrade the sap-kernel to PL4xx  and then try to create the ASCS.

Thanks

Christoph

Hi Christoph,

that explains your issue ;-))

You should go for the 4xx kernel and then later plan for the ASCS split as this might be a bit more with testing SAPinst issues etc. I mostly did it manually because of issues with the tools.
