Sybase IQ 15.4 on virtual server

I am checking if my existing licenses for our BO system supports virtual server. Currently they are all physical servers.

Our BO system information as follows:

(1) BO & BO Data Service - concurrent user license

(3) Sybase IQ 15.4 Small Business Edition - ????

(4) SQL Server Express - CMS Database, Embedded in BO Server.

Is Sybase IQ 15.4 license supports virtual server? Thanks.

IQ can run virtualized in a simplex or a multiplex.  The software has no issue with that at all.

The license is the other issue, however.  Small Business is limited to 4 cores, 250GB of total main store space allocated, and 25 concurrent users.

I would strongly recommend that you contact your account rep for specifics of your contract.  In a lot of our contracts we had this type of language:

The Small Business Edition is licensed on a per Chip basis and is limited to use on a single Machine with a maximum of four (4) installed Cores or fewer.

If a machine is a physical piece of hardware this would be an issue.  If the machine is defined as any physical or virtual host, then it is a non-issue.  As you can see, this gets quickly into a contract issue.

Lastly, I would strongly recommend moving to IQ 16.  IQ 15.4 goes out of support at the end of the month.
