Office 365 email configuration with BI 4.1 SP06

Hi All,

I am trying to figure out how to configure office 365 server on BI platform so that we can send scheduled reports / publication by Email.

Below are the system details:

SAP BI 4.1 SP06

Microsoft Office 365 Email account

I had referred to the following SCN discussion, but there is no success :-

Following is the configuration that I tried :-

  • Domain Name: BLANK
  • Host: smtp.office365.com
  • Port: 25 (tried port: 587 for enabling TLS authentication)
  • Authentication: None

Also tried with Authentication as "Plain" & "Login" & provided the valid user-name & password for office 365 account, but schedule is still failing. Also copied the certificate.crt file in <install_dir>\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64 folder.

I am able to ping & telnet smtp.office365.com with port 25 & 587.

I also tried using port 587 for TLS authentication but that doesn't work either.

SMTP Link for office 365:  smtp.office365.com

Does anyone have configured this earlier? Or Does anyone have an example which information needs to be set at email destination in AJS for configuring office 365?

Regards,

Shailendra

Dear Shailendra,

I will continue replying into this thread about your issue with Office 365.

Please follow the next steps:

1.) Go to Office365 Admin Portal.

2.) Navigate sequentially to 'Settings' > 'Domains' > Choose your Domain.

3.) In the new window, in 'Exchange Online' section you will see an MX record which follows the format: DOMAIN-SOMETHING.mail.protection.outlook.com

The value of MX record will be used in 'Host' field of 'Email' destination for 'Adaptive Job Server'.

4.) You can use port '25' without using an authentication method.

5.) You can use port '587' with using an 'Login' authentication method. In this case you need to use an active Office 365 account which can access Exchange.

Finally, if you have more questions on Office365 configuration then you should ask help from Microsoft experts.

I hope that those information will help you.

ilias

Hi Ilias,

I had resolved the issue with the help of your direction.

We had created email message flow & tune up the connection filtering policies in the Exchange Admin Settings to resolve the issue.

Thank you for your help & direction.

Regards,

Shailendra
