Ledger Approach-IFRS implementation, New Asset Accounting in EHP7

Hi All,

With IFRS implementation in New GL with Ledger Approach in focus; It is clearly established that subsequent implementation of non leading ledger for IFRS will need a sub-project involving System Landscape Optimisation for swapping Depreciation Area (01) from Leading to Non-Leading and Non-Leading to Leading ledger for local Gaap respectively.

Further, with upgradation to EHP7 and New Asset Accounting, it is to my understanding that ''No more hard coupling of depreciation area 01'' scenario will prevail and subsequent Change of Depreciation Area using SAP-System Landscape Optimization (SLO) service will not be necessary for Migration Scenario 7.

But then, IFRS (Accounting Principles) implemented on Non-leading ledger will have to be mapped to leading Ledger and Local Gaap (accounting principles) to Non-leading ledger.

How can the swapping of Depreciation Area be achieved and what steps needs to be essentially observed ?

Requesting views, opinions, suggestions, guidelines as applicable.

Thanks

Hi, it's not clear why are you going to swap depr. areas? Are you going to change leading accounting standard from local to IFRS?

Hi Aleksey,

The subsequent implementation of Non-Leading Ledger for incorporating IFRS requirements, Migration scenario 7 will have to be adopted with SLO sub project for swapping Depreciation Area.

Yes, the leading ledger with local Gaap will have to be swapped with IFRS on Non-leading ledger.

Therefore, IFRS will be on Leading Ledger and local GAAP on Non-Leading Ledger.

Hope this clarifies my requirement.

Hi,

but why are you going to change, I mean 'move' local GAAP to non leading ledger?

Hi,

The leading ledger should essentially have IFRS facilitating integration with CO and Conslidation purpose.  Local GAAP can be on Non-Leading Ledger, which can cater to local reporting requirements.

SAP recommends SLO project exclusively for 'Depreciation Area Swapping / Asset Management Valuation change' as part of Transition to IFRS Project.

Hello,

your understanding, that with new Asset Accounting there is no more hard coupling between are 01 and the leading valuation, is completely right. Thus an SLO Service is not always needed for a Switch in leading ledger. With EHP-7 and new Asset Accounting a Switch of the leading ledger is a supported year-end process, if certain pre-conditions are fulfilled. Please read the following assets to find out more:
