if an instance is a group of resources, let us assume like i have an system with high end hardware .
if so, why cannot we create two instances on the same server ??..
precisely
SID -- ABC
host -- ddaa100 ( CI)
host -- ddaa200 (DI)
my Q is if ddaa200 is already having a running instance D00 , can we create another instance with in the ddaa200 as D01 ??
this is messing me a lot . please clarify me .

Hello Saravana,
Yes, you can add more instances to a server that already has one or more instances.
The new instance does not even need to be from the same system.
However, each instance running on a server (no matter if from the same system or from different systems) must have a unique instance number.
The SAP Installation Guide of your product will state the same as above, maybe just with different wording.
The only remark is about availability (e.g., the server would be a "single point of failure").
If your server presents an issue, it would affect all SAP instances running at it.

Isaías

Hello Saravana,
Yes, you can create more than one instance in the same server.
I have, at least, 2 test systems with more than one dialog instance installed in the same server.
Have you faced any issue while trying to use SWPM to create a new instance?
Regards,
Cris
