Workflow: Error when opening an RFC connection

Hi

I have an recurring issue with errors in SM58 caused by Workflow:

I know that I can reprocess etc. But I would like to find out why these errors keep coming. I makes not much sense because the Target RFC is the system itself (RFC WORKFLOW_LOCAL_100 points to the local system). So there should be no connection issues?

There is no application servers in the system. Only one single server.

Any ideas how to solve (not by scheduling batch job to process errors 🙂 )

Hello Jakob,

Did you register the destination at the transaction SMQS?

If not, do it . There you will be able to define the maximum parallel connections ("max conn") that can be used to process these tRFC entries.

Since the destination points to the local system and the system has one instance only, the most probable root cause is that the system is getting overloaded with these tRFCs.

Registering the destination at SMQS will allow you to control this behavior, avoiding the system overload.

The SAP note 888279 might help as well.

Cheers!
