Using a domain account to run SQL Server Services for SAP

Hi all,

Wondering if someone could help me clarify whether or not SAP supports the use of domain accounts for the "Log On As" account for each SQL Server Service.

My company's current configuration uses the server's local computer accounts to run the SQL Server services (i.e. "NT SERVICE\MSSQL$PE1"), which contradicts Microsoft's recommended security practices, and is hindering our ability to write database backups to an external location (among other things).

Any clarification would be helpful, and very much appreciated.

Hi,

using a domain account is supported and is in use at many customers sites. Please grant the necessary rights to the startup account as described here:

Furthermore please grant the privileges

• Perform Volume Maintenance Task
• Lock pages in Memory

to the startup account.
