Problems after upgrading kernel and Oracle in Biller Direct

Hi experts,

Last weekend we have upgraded Oracle from 10.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.2 and then, the kernel from 7.00 to 7.21. Everything in the SAP system and the BBDD is Ok, but the webpage of Biller Direct doesn't work showing the error: "Internal system error (connection manager lost). Report to your system administrator. "

If we try to run the test in XCM Administration --> ConnectionManager, we get the next error:

Connection failed. com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (102) RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION: Connect to SAP gateway failed Connect_PM TYPE=A ASHOST=usapala2 SYSNR=30 GWHOST=xxxxxx GWSERV=sapgw30 PCS=1 LOCATION CPIC (TCP/IP) on local host with Unicode ERROR partner 'xxxxxx2:sapgw30' not reached TIME Mon Jul 4 12:09:35 2016 RELEASE 721 COMPONENT NI (network interface) VERSION 40 RC -10 MODULE nibuf.cpp LINE 4658 DETAIL NiBufIConnect: connection pending after 60000ms SYSTEM CALL connect ERRNO 245 ERRNO TEXT Operation now in progress COUNTER 1

We put the same password for the user in XCM Administration --> ConnectionManager and in the backend system, but it doesn't work.

Would we need to change this password somewhere else?

Thanks and Regards.

Hello Maximino,

this message means that the host xxxxxx2 can be reached, but on port sapgw30 it is refusing connections. Typically, this port is mapped to 3330, simply check etc/services. It has nothing to do with the password. Check whether host and port settings are realls till correct.

Best regards,

Markus

Hi Markus, and thanks for your replay.

We can reach the server in port 3330 (we did a telnet connection) so the port is open. We didn't do any changes in the machine ports. We only updated the kernel and oracle and then the biller direct web page didn't work.

Hi Maximino,

I can only tell you what the error message is telling and it is telling what I wrote before. So it might also be some issue in the network between the biller direct server and the backend.

Best regards,

Markus

In the server log:

The Connection Manager or User Manager is not available.

Hi Markus,

This error appears in the java server (Netweaver 7.0) where de Biller Direct is installed:

/usr/sap/<SID>/JC01/j2ee/cluster/server0/log:

Hi Maximino,

very likely, this log entry is created, because the connection to the backend fails due to the network failures

Hi Markus,

I run a niping from de machine where Biller Direct is installed and:

niping -c -H 10.71.73.167

But this machine (BD) is in DMZ, and maybe de port 3298 is closed. I'll try to talk with the network team to check that.

Hi Maximino,

the important port is 3330 though. Have this port check as well.

Hi Markus,

Finally we could find the issue. As you said there was a problem with the gateway server usapala2. We changed it for another one and now the test and the biller webpage work fine.

Thanks and Regards.

Dear Maximino,

Hope you are doing good.

As markus mentioned, network connection can be an issue. Check the below notes along with the network administrator to ascertain that there are no network related issues:

#124562     Hostname resolution problems (DNS timeouts)

#500235     Network Diagnosis with NIPING

#413330     Network timeout

Also set gw/acl_mode to 0 on the backend server and check the result.

Hope this helps.

Hi Markus and Hemanth,

This is the exit of telnet command:

#telnet usapala2 3330

Trying...

Connected to usapala2.

Escape character is '^]'.

As you can see it doesn't seem to be a network problem.

This URL was working properly until last friday. On saturday we updated kernel and Oracle and the problem happened.

I think the kernel 7.21 or de Oracle 11.2.0.2 have changed some authorizations for some users.

Regards.

Hello Maximino,

if it was some authorization issue, we would see different error messages and not some about network issues.

Markus

Hi Maximino,

is the network check done from the same machine? Have you tried niping?
I can only repeat - the exception message is indicating issues with the network and not some authorization issue.

Best regards,

Markus
