Hi Expert,

We are planning to migrate our MaxDB 7.9 to HANA SPS11 on SUSE Linux.

Currently we are running SAP ECC 6.0 environment as below,

1. ECC 6.0 EHP7 (Unicode)

2. MaxDB 7.9 database

3. HP Blade 860c i2 server

4. Operating system HP-UX 11.31

Planning to move on HANA as below,

1. HANA database SPS11

2. HP CS500 HANA Appliance

3. Operating system SUSE - SLES 11 SP4

4. ECC 6.0 EHP7

Please can you let us know the steps or any document on how we can migrate database and operating system to HANA and SUSE Linux. As we want to keep application currently same as ECC 6.0 EHP7.

Thanks,

Narendra

Hello Narendra,

In addition to what Ning has already provided, you can also consider the DMO option if you have at least one SP of any component that you can apply.

Hello Narendra,

Just about everything you could ever want to know about DMO can be found here:

With DMO you can perform a Upgrade and Migration in one step. The beauty of it is that if you don't want/need to perform a upgrade (EHP7 meets min prerequisite) then you can still use DMO as long as you have one support package that you need to apply for a particular component. eg: you could use DMO if you just needed to apply one SP to ST-PI or ST/A-PI.

Hi Narendra,

Use export / import with R3LOAD tool to migrate to HANA database on SLES.

Steps and document:

Documentation | SAP Support Portal

-> N

-> SAP NetWeaver

-> SAP NetWeaver 7.4

-> Installation and Upgrade Information

-> Installation Guide

-> Installation

-> System Copy: Systems Based on SAP NetWeaver 7.1 and Higher

-> Choose OS and Stack

Hi Ning,

Thanks for the reply...One question earlier we did Oracle to MaxDB migration using export / import with R3LOAD tool. That time we first exported the data from source system to one file system. Do we still need one file system while doing migration to HANA database?

Thanks,

Narendra

Hi Narendra,

You need addtional space for holding the export files, either it is under file system or directory.
