Float time updates

Hi Experts,

I have a question I am hoping to get answered. When I create an activity and set the Constraints on the Dates tab (Start constraint and date, Finish constraint and date, and Early/Late) At this point the Total float appears to be set. If anything changes either a constraint or a date the Float gets set to 0. Is this normal behavior? How does the Float get recalculated? Is there any configuration that controls this?

You need to run scheduling on the project.  You can use CN24 (or CN24N) for Network Scheduling or CJ29 for Project Scheduling.

Check you network config to see if you have Automatic Scheduling at save turned on.

Thank you both. That helped. I ran the scheduling and it updated. I ran it after i modified my test data. It worked.

Hi,

Total float = late finish - early finish, late start - early start

If you have activities within a network mapped with relation ships , then as you schedule your project dates get changed.

This is primarily governed by Scheduling type (Free /Forward/Backward).

So if any of the dates gets changed /updated , float value will change.
