MDG Material Hana based search

Hi,

We are trying to configure HANA based search for MDG Material version 8.0 which is deployed on HANA data base. We have followed the steps given in the standard document configuring master data governance for material. As per the document the steps Create Database Connection and Maintain the MDG SAP HANA Database Profile Settings is not required as its deployed on Hana data base.

But when coming to the step create search view the business function MDG_MATERIAL_5 is activated.

On running the transaction MDG_HDB_GEN_UI or navigating through the path Master Data Governance > Central GovernanceGeneral > SettingsData Quality and Search > Search and Duplicate Check > Create Search View ,we are getting as service cannot be reached, select a  valid URL.

Please help me what to do next or if anything needs to be done or missing.

Thanks and Regards,

Divya

Hi Divya,

check if the service MDG_HDB_SV_INITIAL is enabled using transaction SICF.

Best,

Riccardo

We are also on MDG 8.0 on a HANA d/b.

We set up HANA based search but when we try to do Mass Change search - it gives an error saying "Enterprise Search Connector for object type MATERIAL is not available"

Is TREX still mandatory if HANA search is used ?

Any thoughts on where we are going wrong ?

Divya,

We have the same problem, but could not find MDG_HDB_SV_INITIAL service in SFW5. Could you please share a screenshot, or describe where to find it?

Hi Alexander,

sorry for my typo; you have to activate the service MDG_HDB_SV_INITIAL using tx code SICF

Hi Alex,

On top of Riccardo Brogi's excellent answer, here are general activation steps in ICF SAP service.

Note 517484 - Inactive services in the Internet Communication Framework

- The Internet Communication Framework Services are inactive when you install the SAP Web Application Server. All Internet Communication Framework (ICF) services are delivered as inactive (this is for security reasons).

or SAP Help " Active Services in SICF"

Hi Alexander,

Go to transaction code SICF and there give Hierarchy type as Service and execute it.  There you enter service name as MDG_HDB_SV_INITIAL and click on apply filter. There you will be able to find this service. Right click on it and activate.

Divya
