I've been stuck with the installation of SAP Netweaver Application Server. I've already installed maxdb manually and to no avail I cannot find any solution to successfully install the application. I'm installing the software on my vmware (windows xp 32bit).

Hello,

You need to confirm that you started sapinst with the switch "sapinst_use_hostname".

And also confirm that the installation user is member of the group of Domain Administrators.

You may need to restart the installation with a user who is a domain admin and a local admin on each cluster node but not the user "administrator", <sid>adm or SAPService<sid> as outlined within the installation guide.

Im using windows xp service pack 2. What do you mean by "sapinst_use_hostname"? Should I include this in the environment variables?

Hello,

You need to execute sapinst.exe from the command line with the following option:

sapinst.exe  SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual hostname>
