Customer Specification and Internal Specification

Dear All,

Any one please suggest us to keep different entries in specifications for a particular product in Certificate of Analysis, Hence we are dealing with many customers to a particular product according to their mandatory specifications by separately.  Whether can we able to do such things in SAP by keeping different specifications to customers and as well as internal in COA? which is important to us,

Thank You,

Always a problem.  This is my preferred, (not always possible though), method.

Hopefully you utilize classes or batch classes.  Hopefully you only have to create a one or two of these.  Worse case, you have to create one for each customer specification.

Once the class is created with the applicable characteristics, create a batch search strategy, (VCH1). Should be able to use SD01 or SD02 strategies provided by SAP.  Use the class(es) created above as your selection class and put in the customers ranges.  Save the stragey.

Next, create a new FM.  This will be configured in QM-->Quality Certificates --> Define Data Orign-->Origin of characteristic specifications.  Create new SpecOrigin Z1 and map  your FM to it.

The FM will be desinged to use the same batch search stragey logic and pull the specifications from there and retun them as the specification values to the COA.  This allows you to maintain a selection atragey at the material level as well as at the customer level.  If a strategy record is found at the customer level, that is used.  If at the material level, that is used.  if none is found, you default the FM to use the classification values.

Now create a COA profile for the material. Specify that SpecOrigin to use is Z1,the one you configured.

This method gives you several advantages.

1) your specs can be created at any level you want.  I.e. whatever levels you can dream up for a batch search strategy you can use to maintain specs at.

2) with a batch search strategy defined you are checknig at delivery that the batch you send, is meeting your customers spec

3) You can keep your COA profiles to a minimum.  Only need a COA profile for the material if you write your FM properly.  No customer specific COA's required unless you have a requirement other than actual specifications.

Hi Aravindh,

For this requirement you need to activate the "multiple specification" in your inspection plan (using CWBQM) and setup the required customizing.

Then you will be able to setup customer-relevant AND internal specification for your product.

Check SAP help step by step to setup that scenario.

Hi Aravindh,

You can try one thing. You can use customer specific certificate profile, assign then in QC15 and use it QC21. Hopefully it should help you.

Thanks,
