Is it advisable to have WD abap/java screens in FLP

Hi Team,

We have wd abap applications in portal. Parallelly we would like to implement fiori apps of existing portal services in Fiori launcpad.

is it advisable to integrate existing WD abap/java applications on FLP or go for standard fiori apps/custom developments for those services.

Please list down the disadvantages of having WD Abap/java screens in FLP.

1.The applications are not responsive on mobile and tablets but fiori apps are responsive across all devices.

2. We would like to expose FLP on extranet so will this have any impact on WD abap/java. Are they accessible in extranet.

3. Please share any sap note or any blog from SAP talking of disadvantages of having wd screens in FLP.

thanks in advance

Ram

Hi Ram,

Some recommendations:

  • From Mobile devices or tablets, it's not recommended to access WebDynpro applications.
  • Define Target Mappings:

For WebDynpro, you will only have Desktop as the device Type. See following:

https://help.sap.com/saphelp_uiaddon10/helpdata/en/2a/ec20ffda5c457d898dfb822e2a7bd3/content.htm

  • You can easily make your FLP as the Single Point Entry by integrating your WD applications or any HTTP based applications.  Refer Jennifer Cha’s blog http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-58178
  • For extranet, expose your gateway URL via SAP Web Dispatcher (DMZ )

Regards,
