Running HANA at home for test/learning purposes

Hi All,

I'm busy doing the SAP NW certification based on SAP NW, and while I know and understand it comes custom-installed on an appliance, I was wondering if it was possible to run it on a VM at home for learning purposes.

If it is, what files would I need to download from the SAP site?

Thanks!

Craig

Thanks Kris, if I fire up an instance on AWS is it billable?

Hi Craig,

Yes, you will have to pay the AWS hosting fees...these can spin out of hand if you forget to suspend the instance when not in use.

If you want to have a go at a free solution then have a look at Cloud Cockpit where you can get a free HANA 'sandbox' but it is quite limited...but a good starting point. The Dev edition for HANA on CAL is reasonably priced as this is an example of what I pay (in USD):

There is also a tiny fee for storage and static IP (makes life easier).

Hope this helps.
