DMM and Repository Options are not available

Former Member

I installed SAP PowerDesigner 16.5 in a Windows machine.

I got the license:

EnterpriseArchitect, Standard Edition (CSBL).

Based on the definition of :

EnterpriseArchitect includes Sheel/Core, XML, PDM, LDM, Repository, DMM, CDM, BPM, OOM,EAM, EA Frameworks.

The user should have access to create DM Models., but in the menu are just:

Free Model

Multi Model Report

Physical Diagram

And all the repository options are disabled.

I followed the instructions from Troubleshooting Licensing Problems (move .lic , remove lines starting Pd.LicenseMOde and Pd.Package and restart power designer to re load the local license key.

But after those steps, the DMM and repository options are still disabled.

Thanks in advance for your collaboration.

When you did the initial install, did you select all the options, or only those allowed by the license at the time (Physical Modeling?) - in other words, did you install by first selecting the license.

You must select all components during an initial install.  A later change in license will not activate components that were not originally installed.

My general rule-of-thumb is to install the product as a trial with all components, then apply the license after.  If you do this, then all the components will be available to a later license.  If you only install what a license allows, the components cannot be activated by a later license change as they are not available, regardless of the new license features.

Adam and Chris, thanks for your collaboration.

My final solution was:

Download PowerDesigner 16.6

Install version 16.6 as a trial with all components.

Check-in the previous license

Generate a new license key

And now I have all the options working.

Hi Jorge,

Did you install the 16.5 base or one of the SP releases?   If you only installed the base 16.5, please download and install SP05.   There are known issues with this license type prior to 16.5 SP03.   SP05 is the latest release for the 16.5 line.   It is available under Support Packages and Patches.   You have the option to install the 32 bit or 64 bit version.

EBF 24468:  16.5 SP05 x86

EBF 24469:  16.5 SP05 x64

After upgrading, please try the license again.
