Hi All,
Is there any option to automatically assign Document Numbers to SOLIDWORKs files while importing through SAP PLM - ECTR.
Can SOLIDWORKS filename be automatically assigned as Document Number while importing SLW models into SAP..
Currently inputting document numbers manually is a tedious task for customers if their assembly files have more than 50 -100 parts...
Is there any way we can address this...
Any BADI/BAPI developments...?
Thanks

Hello Arun,
did you have a look at Operations Guide, page 62. There the attribute "document_number_assignment" is explained.

Hi Gerhard,
Thank you for your response...
I did have a look at the AOG page #62 & 63...
Probably it should work fine if there is an internal number assignment..
My requirement is to have the auto document# assignment incase of Externally defined number ranges...where it should pick the SLW filenames as the SAP document number...
Thanks

Hello Arun,
Usually we recommend to do it the other way around: we use an internal number, generated by SAP and then rename the files accordingly. What is the exact customer requirement behind this?
With your proceeding this has some limitiation: e.g. your file is named "lever.sldprt". When you import this file your document info record has the number "LEVER". If you try to import another lever, assuming same file name but different geometry, you cannot import this file.
Regards,
Gerhard
