Hi Team,
We configured SAML in our Landscape so we are using SAML as login screen to Fiori Launchpad.Everything looks OK till here.
We are seeing few issues when there is a session time out.
Process 1: Here we don't have any issue
Step 1: Logged in to Fiori Launchpad
Step 2: Cleared cookies and history
Step 3: When user performs any action in Launchpad it defaults takes us to SAML login screen and it's the default behavior. It is working as expected.
Process 2: Here we have an issue
Step 1: Logged in to Fiori Launchpad
Step 2: Cleared cookies and history
Step 3: Left the screen for more than an hour without any user action on Launchpad
Instead default taking us to SAML Login Screen it is rerouting us to old Fiori Flower Launchpad Screen.
Please provide if there is any configuration where we can redirect the URL for session time out or any provide us your suggestions.

We had a similar problem, but slightly different behavior. In our case, users would see a "blank pop" up and the only way to get around it was to refresh the page. We are thinking of following the steps as listed in SAP Note - 2019430 https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/0002019430
The note basically lists steps to create a custom ICF handler to display a "nicer" message to the user and then configure the oData services to redirect to this custom handler.
