Printer problem "Output Device LP01 is Locked by R/3"

Hi BASIS Experts,

user is printed

Spoolrequest showing Status="-" , outputrequest is not generated,

in SP01 listof spoolrequest

selecting the Spool no(Check box) and Clicking PrintDirectly

it is showing message "Output Device LP01 is Locked by R/3"

I checked Printer Q it is in Ready Stage, there is no changes to the printer from BASIS side.

my Environment is AIX,DB2,R3

hello Kishore,

Goto transaction SPAD. Then select output devices--then double click on printer LP01.

In the resulting screen for DeviceAttributes you will find a check box Lock Printer in SAP system. I think this check box in checked in your case. Please uncheck it and try again.

I checked as per you advice, it is already uncheckd

(in DeviceAttributes tab "Lock Printer in SAP System" check box is unchecked)

Hello Kishore,

Okie do one thing please go to SM12 and look for entries for table TSP03D with lock argument as LP01. Can you find anything? I mean if you find something then some user is changing the LP01 printer.

Hi Kishore,

What is this user BC-BATCH? Sounds similar to WF-BATCH.Is it a batch job user?

I mean LP01 is used for batch job printing. Just look what all actions are being performed by BC-BATCH as of now. Please check SM66. May be this message is coming because of the activities of this user.

Yes this is for B/G jobs to run.

but this is nothing to to with the Printer, the printer Pb is for some other user, from past 3 days we have this pb.

Check the process sm50 (check detail) any thing is happening?

If nothing ... kill the process...

some times it will keep on run ... but nothing will happened ...

I don't think there is no another way..

the job is strucked...

discus with the job owner and cancel ....

it will show running ... but you need to check ..

Does it reading writing to database ?

Analyses the job... what exactly it is trying to do ..

.... I never seen the job running this much long time ....
