Sandeep,

servername.company.com is fully qualified hostname.

servername is just the hostname.

Hi,

Fully qualified hostname is the hostname, along with the domain name of the network in which that host exists.

Also ensure that all parameters in Exchange Profile also reflect the same hostname as in SMICM.

What do you mean by company?

My host name is vm0003 and the installation is actually sitting on a local mahine at present... so what would the fully qualified ost name be for me?

Hi Ricardo,

This is an example:

Exceute IPCONFIG on your machine. One of the parameters that will be displayed are:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix: A.B.C.D...

This is tha part that is to be suffixed to the host-name to give the fully-qualified hostname.

It usually contains the company name.

Regards,

Puloma.

Note.: if you have a standalone XI server, how does it perform integration?

It is a sand box system... simply for testing file scenarios :-)....

Ok so one last question... The DNS Suffix will change everytime I move to a different Network won't it?

It is on a Laptop the the company Provides and we go in Wirelessly... so everytime im on a different WIFI network the DNS Suffix will change...

SO basically I can do end to end monitoring and alerts with this machine? As I cant specify a fully qualified host name?
