Hi Experts,

We have a requirement to implement new general ledgers in our source erp finance system however we have other SAP IS and Non SAP system

sending FI and CO messages to our source ERP system. So with new gl what are the areas which are impacted and needs to be changed in these IS systems other than activating the new Gl via spro. or do we need to change the message types etc.. can anyone please advice.

Hi Saj,

As far as possible, FI-CA uses the new GL in the same way it uses the classic general ledger. In addition, (since SAP ERP 6.0) FI-CA supports the account assignment "Segment", which was introduced (with mySAP ERP 2004) as a new standard account assignment in the new general ledger.

Moreover, with SAP ERP 6.04 (EHP 4), the Profit Center is provided in FI-CA as an account assignment object for postings to Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable.

For more information, please check the SAP KBA Note-1070629, Appendix (Point#3)

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

Amlan

Hi Amlan,

Thanks for the information. We have gone through all the notes and have considered what needs to be changed as part of the changes which will be implemented as part of the FI changes. Obviously we will need to align with the FI structure in our relevant IS systems.

Having mentioned this, will there be changes to distribution model to use the new message types FAGLDT01 and FAGLST01 instead of FIDDC1 and CODCMT to transfer into the FICO system for reporting even if we have new GL activated but not using any of the characteristics for eg: segmentation or document splitting. Once again I appreciate for the prompt reply.

Thanks in advance

Hi Sajcon,

Its not mandatory to use the new mesaage types,FAGLDT01 and FAGLST01, after the new GL activ ation. Through these message types, you have the flexbility, to transfer the FI Documents individually (FAGLDT01) or grouped (FAGLST01) together in aggregated form.

Transferring documents in aggregated form only reduces the data volume considerably, thereby improving performance.

You can still use FIDCC1/FIDCC2 message types to transfer GL information to R/3 System with new GL activated. Hope it clarifies.

Thanks,

Hi Amlan,

Wondering if the document splitting can be achieved in the target system by using the new message type. As we would like to reduce the impact on PSCD systems by implementing the new GL and Document splitting functionalities. For reporting purpose if we send the summarised GL info then I assume the document splitting function cannot be achieved. any suggestion.

Thanks
