If you assign characteristic values to a variant configuration product in the MRP3 view of the material master, then those defaults are always proposed when creating a sales order for that product. What is the best way to stop those values being proposed as defaults... I have tried $DEL_DEFAULT options, looked at user settings but cannot find an easier way to stop those defaults pre-populating into a sales order entry line.
Any suggestions?

Once configuration defaults are entered in MRP3 view then they cannot be removed. We also need entries here so that standard costing runs can be done on configurable materials.
We wish to force the users to always enter the configuration values in the sales order and not hit enter and accept defaults by mistake, so want to put code or use some other option so that the material configuration defaults do not copy to through to the sales order.

Material master default values have highest priority over any other default, if for your business scenario values are changing its better to delete this default from material master. If user want he/she can assign values while creating sales order.
