Why we are using this when we install SAP ?

Hi Srinivas,
If loopback adapter is not installed on your system then it not able to go inside the \\<hostname>\sapmnt or saploc directory.
Moreover SAP engine requires a LAN adapter to function properly and since sapmnt is shared folder it will get accessed while network is available.

Hi Shishir,
Basically Microsoft Loopback adapter is used when your computer is standalone that means it is not in Network, Microsoft loopback is just a virtual LAN which is used during Sap installation, well you can switch back to your Local area network after installation.

There is no need have a Microsoft Loopback Adapter when you have a network adopter card in your system. when you don't have network card we have a option of fooling the system by using Microsoft Loopback Adapter.
