Application server does not use the available physical memory

Hello Experts,

We have 98 GB of physical memory and 96 GB of swap memory in SUSE Linux. But when loading data or performing any other transactions it occupies only 7%(around 6-7 GB) of physical memory. Data loading takes more time since it does not use the entire available memory. I want the system to utilize entire available physical memory to process the users request. Is there any parameter to allocate memory for application server?  Is there any solution to increase RAM usage?

Hi Priyar,

maybe you need to add more server nodes and increase the heap size available for them.

Note 1824799 also show more information about memory usage that can help you.

Thanks,

Hello Priyar,

As a starting point please let us know what version of the kernel you are running.

Also have a look at the following notes which will help you with Linux and memory management and in particular ZAMM.

941735 - SAP memory management system for 64-bit Linux systems

2085980 - New features in memory management as of Kernel Release 7.40
