Folks,

My client is planning to upgrade from 4.7 to ECC 6.0 and would like to know whether the SAP server environment should be changed to 64 bit.

What are the advantages of changing to 64 bit?

Yes we need to change to 64 bit OS.SAP will soon stop supporting 32 bit OS.

-> more RAM addressable

-> more stable

-> SAP will discontinue 32bit software sooner or later (already did that for unix)...so you'll better switch soon!

Hello Ravi,

no impact. SP2 has been tested and released. See also SAP note 30478.

In case of MSCS on x64 before applying of SP2 you will need to get the latest SAP resource dll from 700 patches. This is only one known issue at the moment.

Win 2003 SP1 and SP2 have the same windows kernel - only additional fetaures. So there is no chnage for SAP. SAP sees Win 2003 SP1 and SP2 as exactly the same.
