Hi,

I try to install CE Trial April 2007 on Windows XP SP2 and always get the same error while setup tries to finish the MaxDB installation (task PREPARE_AUTOSTART_DB):

I tried on 2 different Computers (AthlonXP 2GHz, 768 MB RAM, 160G Disk and Athlon64, 1G RAM, 80 G Disk) and could reproduce the same behaviour on both. Additionally i tried to change language settings to english and so on. I can see, that MaxDB is already started (service is installed and up) - but setup doesn't continue.

It's the first NetWeaver installation on both systems.

Thank's for help!

Michael

Hello,

in this step the user "LOCAL Service" for the folder ( you can see the path in the log ) c:\sapdb\data\wrk is tried to be set.

This doesn't work.

To help us analyze the error we need a logfile.

For that please reproduce therror.

Then DON'T stop the Installer.

Got the folder: %tmp%/I1178259834/Windows ( I1178259834 is generic and can be different. Look for the latest date when it is modified ) the file is called "logfile_for_sltoolbox.log"

Please send it to stefan.seemann@sap.com

When you don't want to wai you can try this:

Stop the installer.

First please check if the folder at all.

As a next step you could try to set the permission by hand.

- Open the windows explorer and navigate to the folder ( in this case c:\sapdb\data\wrk).

- Right click -> Properties -> Tab permissions -> Add

- Now type in this case sensitiv: "LOCAL SERVICE" (without the ").

- Set the permissions to FULL Control

The user LOCAL SERVICE is a special internal user ( Like LocalSystem) without

rights.

If that worked fine. Goto C:\usr\sap\SID\insthome\primaryApplicationServer\

Open steps.xml with wordpad and search for ERROR

Replace ERROR for OK and start the Installation again.

Best regards,

Stefan Seemann

Hi all,

After struggling fro few hours with same error, I tried the fix above and it worked fine for me!!!

GREAT and thx

Note that I am using a french windows version. In this case, just replace "LOCAL SERVICE" by "SERVICE LOCAL" and it will work.

You can extend this trick to all country versions of Windows

English: LOCAL SERVICE

German: LOKALEN DIENST

Spanish: SERVICIO LOCAL

etc...

Thanks again

Bonne chance and enjoy SAP

Hi Folks,

the same problem here too with the JAX07 CE DVD.

Trying to install on XP SP2.

Then I look into the services it seems that the db runs already. Stopping these and resuming the installation doesn't help.

Bye
