Product Interchangeability CTM - Use Excess stock of predecessor

Hello Guru's,

I wanted to know if CTM can acheive the below functionality of using the predecessor products excess stock to satisfy demand of successor product if so how do we do that.

Standard discontinuation does not allow this according to below.

Nick,

I don't think you have used interchangeability before. 

What you are describing with "Forward Interchangeability" is incorrect.

You should have demand for "old", Product A.

Then stock of A is used to satisfy demand of A.   Remaining demand of A is met by supply of Product B.  

This is true for CTM and SNP Heuristics.

I have used PI earlier and i am aware of the scenario you have mentioned but i am more concerned about the scenario i had put in as a post reason being SAP help indicates it supports it so wanted to take suggestion on how to acheieve it . Please find below the post from SAP help

what you are showing on the screen shot from online help can be accomplished with Full Interchangeability.   Have you used Full Interchangeability before?

Hello Ken,

I have tried using full interchangeability, i have 2 products A and B , A is the Predecessor with supply and B is successor with forecast on it . Below is the screenshot of Supersession chain. But upon running CTM it is not generating the above requested result. Does CTM support full intechangeability or am i missing anything.

CTM does not support full interchangeability only forward.

With forward, demand should exist on predecessor. 

For demands of successor, stock of predecessor is not utilized.

Are you discovering something different?

The simple answer is to test one case in your development/quality environment. At least give a try and thereafter if you face an issue or need further suggestion, this platform is always open.

Hello Rahul,

I have already tried that in my test system and it does not work .Below is the setup.

Product A : Predecessor

Product B : Successor

Use up Strategy : Yes

Direction: forward

situation 1 : Stock on A for 1000 and Demand on B for 1000 and 2000

Expected Result : Utilization of stock of 1000 to satify demand on B

Result currently : CTM is not generating any subsitution orders.

CTM works fine when the demand is on A and stock on  B with the setup above . But i am looking to solce situation 1 .

Try with fully interchangeability for use up strategy and then check the results.
