Script in SAP PI ?

Dear Friend,

do u know why Script are using in SAP PI? what are the advantages.

I have read little bit in some other blog,

in communication channel by execute shell Script to delete/execute commands the file before read the file in file scenario.

what are the advantage of using script in SAP PI and what is the business requirement.

I have file to file scenario in our client but i never done this script.

Hi

Please go through below link . Generally script are used to do some operation on OS level before or after processing of message via communication channel.

Script can be used for multiple purpose like sorting file before processing , merging different file to single file or archiving based on requirement .

Its useful if you need to do some form of Pre or Post processing of the file. It gives you an option of adding some programming logic to the channel before or after it processes the file.

Hi Srin,

From my point of view you should avoid the scripts because you will have a maintenance outside of PI builder environment. Sometimes it is necessary, but you should think another alternatives more standard and maintainable first.
