Hi Simon:

Option 1:  Standard Classification System

Consider the use of informational characteristics, created with CT04.  Assign these to a Merchandise Category using WG22.  The advantage of this approach is that it's 100% master data and standard functionality.  The downside of this approach is that use of characteristics (classification system) is not always the best choice for performance.  For example, if you want to interface.

Option 2: Modification Free Enhancement

Consider appending the needed data elements to MARA.  See SAP Note 44410.  Also see SPRO > Logistics - General > Material Master > Configuring the Material Master > Create Program for Customized Subscreens.  The advantage of this approach is that your custom fields are appended to MARA (Article Master Basic Data) and can be integrated into standard Article Master T-Codes MM41, MM42, MM43.  The downside of this approach is that it is development work, and lots of it if you want to take care of side issues (for example, mass updates, reference handling).

Hi Simon,

There are many ways to handle this. If you are working for fashion retailer, then the given approach will be desirable. Its about changing the configuration of screens from normal retailer to fashion retailer. Following fields are available in the basic data of the article with fashion retail pages.

So there will be some configurations to be carried out to achieve this. Please follow the given steps:

  • Goto SPRO: Logistic General -> Material Master -> Configuring the Material Master -> Assign Screen Sequences to User/Article Type/Transaction/Industry Sector
  • Here double click on Screen sequence control option from the left-side options.
  • Locate the entries SRef:trans. with id 03. See the screen below.
  • Change the Screen sequence to 33 instead of 23 for the highlighted row.

Other approach is if you want this screen only for few article types. So, let us know if the above approach does not address the issue.

I hope this will help.

Regards,

Amit
