We are building an SCM/LC "Sandbox" (K41/LCK) to match our current production P41/LCP system in order to test an SCM/LC upgrade.
Our current enviroment consists of:
SCM = 4.1, SAPDB Version = 7.5.00.49, LCAPPS = 4.10.018)
Currently our MaxDB environment is "shared" with other LiveCache and Content Server systems running SAPDB versions 7.6 and 7.7.
If we now do a LiveCache install of 7.5 to build the "Sandbox", will it overlay or corrupt any binaries currently being used by the systems
using the 7.6 and 7.7 versions?
To restate it my concern is, will the install of the older version overlay objects in the "Independent Program Path" causing issues for the LiveCache and
Content Server systems currently running newer versions of SAPDB & LCAPPS?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Hello,
If you will have further questions on liveCache/LCAPPS post then at liveCache forrum
Answer on your question:
- install of the liveCache instance with the older version of the liveCache on the same server where already installed MAXDB/liveCache instances will NOT overwrite the software/objects in the "Independent Program Path" .

Hello Joe,
"So from your understanding there should be no risk of impacting current systems by installing this older version? "
- Correct.
"Are there any other considerations that you care to point out?"
- Check that you have OS resources < memory, CPU ... > to run more as 2 database instances on the same server. Recheck the database parameters configuration.
- Check PAM & pay attention that the SCM 4.1 and liveCache 7.5 version is out of maintenance

MaxDB and liveCache allows you to run several instances of different versions on a single server.
Some software components are stored only once on a server. For documentation relating to the software directories, see:
