Smart Variant Management question?

HI experts,

I am currently exploring SmartVariantManagement in SAP UI5, however, I have not come across an article that explains how smart variant management stores variants in a real backend server for retrieval in a new session.

I have seen the articles below, but neither provide sufficient information on how to  use and configure smart variant management and SAP flexibility services:

I would like to know:

- Where the variants are stored

- What exactly flexibility services provide

- How are variants stored
