why cannot assign new item category to sales doc type

Dear all,

I found an old post regarding "Milestone Billing" in this community and tried to follow the steps.

I could "Create New Item Category", however, I cannot complete "Assign Item Category".

I assume it cannot be assigned because

Item Category I created(ZTAS, ZTAD, ZTAS) are not found in the selection list.

How can I assign  Item Category I created(ZTAS, ZTAD, ZTAS) to Sales Document Type?

These are steps I've tried..

.Create New Item Category, say ZTAN - Copy of TAN (For delivery Related) / ZTAD - Copy of TAD (For Order realted) / ZTAS - copy of TAS (For Third Party)

Maintain as under (others remaining same)

Billing Relevance: I

Billing Plan Type: 01

IMG > Sales and Distribution > Sales > Sales Documents > Sales Document Item > Define Item Category

.Assign Item Category, for ex (assuming Usage & higher level item category as blank):

Sales Document Type | Item Category Group | Default Item Category

ZOR | NORM | ZTAN

ZOR | DEIN | ZTAD

ZOR | BANS | ZTAS

IMG > Sales and Distribution > Sales > Sales Documents > Sales Document Item > Assign Item Category

thank you for your support in advance!

Probably the reason is already an entry exist in VOV4 for the item category which you had created by copying i.e. sales item category determination, please check the same. If issue is not resolved then please hsre the exacrt screen short the of the erroe along with the message no.

Thank you, Sumeet.

I tried to create New Entries for those 3 ZORs in VOV4.

ZOR | NORM | ZTAN

ZOR | DEIN | ZTAD

ZOR | BANS | ZTAS

When I entered New Entries for the above 3 ZORs,

I got the error message saying "An entry already exists with the same key  Message no. SV009".

There is " ZOR / NORM / TAN" in VOV4,  but there is NOT "ZOR | NORM | ZTAN".

Kindly find an error screen shot attached.

How can I create the combinations of..

ZOR | NORM | ZTAN

ZOR | DEIN | ZTAD

ZOR | BANS | ZTAS

Kind regards,

Hi,

You need to replace TAN with ZTAN in "ZOR / NORM / TAN" in VOV4. You need to do this for all 3 entries and issue will be resolved.

Thanks.

Hello,

I made it, but not replacing TAN with ZTAN.

As I see there are combinations registered as "ZOR / NORM / XXXX",

It doesn't make a sense to replace ;-  and also I need to have "ZOR / NORM / TAN".

I just enter either "Usg." or "HLevItCa",

then I can create these..

ZOR | NORM | ZTAN

ZOR | DEIN | ZTAD

ZOR | BANS | ZTAS

Thank you for your support!

Hi,

If you want to keep TAN also then why you created ZTAN?

Moreover you can also maintain ZTAN in MLTCA and while sales order process you can manually changes TAN to ZTAN when required.

The use of usage and higher level item category is use in:

Usage: its a ABAP hard coded program use in specific business application example batch management or contract

Higher level item category is use in process line free good etc.

Anyhow I believe your issue is resolved.

Thanks.

Hello

I'm a beginner to use SPRO.

As I've just followed the procedure, Configuration of Milestone billing / Periodic Billing,

I thought I need to keep both ZTAN and TAN because the procedure suggested to copy TAN.

Thank you for your explanations of usage and higher level item category.

I wonder why/when I need to copy TAN in order to create ZTAN?!

I don't need to create ZTAN if there is no need to customizing Usage & Higher Level Item Category on TAN ?!

Is there any effect on FI?

If you have a time, kindly provide me some knowledge.

kind regards,
