PDS Selection during PPDS planning run

Hello Experts,

When run heuristic (standard lots) for planning of receipts elements, the planned orders always select the PDS Version 001.

Is this standard that only PDS Version 1 gets selected during planning run ?

Is there a way where if resource of Version 1 is overloaded then PDS Version 2 get automatically selected during creation of planned orders ?

Hi Alin,

The heuristic will select the PDS with highest priority and create the order on it. Afterwards, it will check whether the Availability Date of the order can cover the requirement on time. If yes, this source is adopted. If not, it will try to create an order with the next source and so on.

The standard SAP_PP_002 heuristic has Scheduling Mode = Infinite Scheduling by default, which means the orders usually can be scheduled on time since capacity is not considered.

A possibility is to use Scheduling Mode = Search for Bucket with Free Capacity. This one will make it more likely other sources will be chosen if the Resource is overloaded.

Another option, in case you have a very simple PDS structure, is to use SAP_REM_001 heuristic, which distributes the orders among the different sources.

Another option is to create a Quota Arrangement specifying what % of orders should go to each source and use SAP_PP_Q001.

Alin,

Not using standard PP/DS.  PP/DS in general is planned infinitely; during planning there is no provision to accommodate selection of resources based upon capacity consumption.

It is possible for a planner to manually assign alternate resources using information found in the Planning Board..

If you need the capability of a planning engine that simultaneously considers both material shortages and also capacity shortages, both Optimizer and Capable To Match (CTM) are available.

Hello DB49 / Experts,

Just wanted to understand more -

Planning for standard lots or any other planning (MRP) heuristic would plan infinitely,means this will not do any capacity planning ? as said no simultaneous planning ?

PDS version would it select will be always PDS Version 1  or can it decide basis of Procurement  Priority ?

can the orders shift to paraallel resource maintained in another PDS version with the change in procurement priority ?

Also Optimizer can plan for alternate resource if It is maintained in Mode. Not sure if it considers shifting orders to another PDS Version ?
