Hi Syed,

You will need to monitor the below list during the time interval you :

1. On SAP application side, ST22 & SM21.

2. On the OS side look for dev_disp in the work directory. You might have to check the one with old prefix as the new one would have logs from the last restart. In case of JAVA stack look for the dump files (hpprof.oom). You can use the memory analyzer to analyse this file and can also send it to SAP for further analysis

3. On the DB side check for the error logs

4. Also check for the Network disconnects with the help of your infrastructure team.

Thanks,

Manas

Hi Syed,

If server was unresponsive during some minutes, we need to check a screenshot from tx. SM21 for that period (also including some minutes before the hanging situation started).
Dispatcher trace file (dev_disp) will show us more information about the server status during that period.
You can also check report /SDF/MON (if it's scheduled on the server). This will show what the work processes were exewcuting during that period of time.

Hi

"Request (type NOWP) cannot be processed" probably because the user was log off mandatory  and you can ignore it. It has nothing to do with the initial issue: "server was down for some time and working fine after few minutes" .

if you want to know the root cause of the issue, please upload the dispatcher (dev_disp) trace log.

thanks and best regards,

shi

Hi Syed

If you do daily monitoring of your system, you can look t-codes like : sm21, st22, st06->OS Log etc.

Thanks

Hi Syed,

Check SM21, will give you a clear picture. What happened during that time.

Check message server log file with dev_disp (dispatcher log file).

You can also check available.log file in work directory, though SAP itself relying on this information alone is bit dicey.

Hi Syed,

Please check in work process trace files, also look for any hpprof dumps in work directory.

Please let me know if it helps you.
