Hi
I have a query about where SAP pulls its time stamps from for transactions.
For example, my company is an American company but I am based in Ireland.
Some reports/transactions have the time in US time and others have the time in Irish (GMT) time.
This has created an issue in the past. We do know that its server based, but we need to be able to prove this without fear of contradiction.
Any advice or transactions you guys know of that we could run to see where the time is been pulled from.
One example we have is MB51. We know for sure this is been pulled in US (California) time. BUT as this is 8 hours behind us, its causing conflicts with releases of materials etc. i.e. it looks like a material was released before it was received etc....
We don't mind using the 2 time zones but we just need to be able to explain it in the event of been questioned on it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Adrian
Hi,
unfortunately, I believe the time zone that is used for storing/displaying dates depends on each SAP app. Most of the time I think it gets stored in system time zone and some transactions converts this to user's time zone when displaying data. IMO it should be always stored in UTC to avoid issues with daylight saving and then display it in local time of a user. But even this may be the right way for every use case. So I guess you will have to check this on case to cases basis.
Cheers

Hi Adrian,
I can understand your situation and it's a bit confusion too. As per practice, I believe that server dates are the one which drives the table entries. It will be great if you can post this thread in SAP@BASIS forum as there I believe you will receive the most appropriate set of response, which you may be interested to check.
Thanks,
Arijit
