Hello Friends,

We have upgraded our Solution manager 7.01 system in to Solution Manager 7.1 after that we have installed new diagnostics agent DAA.

But still we have our old SMD and it is not starting fine in MMC.

Here SMD is older one which was available from solman7.01 and DAA is newer which was installed after solman 7.1 upgrade.

I have some questions ie,

Do we required SMD still or can we uninstall it?

can we have 2 Diagnostics agent in one system?

If required SMD what could be the reason for this issue why its not started?

Please find the dev_SMD log file in the attachment.

Kindly help me.

Regards,

Farkath C

Hi Farkath,

You don't need two SMD agents on a host (OS), if you have one SAP system running.

You can un-install the older version of SMD agent.

Hello Prithvi,

When i check the smd.properties  of both the agents SMD and DAA.

For SMD, it is stating that smdagent.type =server.

But for DAA, It is stating that smdagent.type=java.

Is there a server for diagnostics agent?

Are you sure that the SMD is not require?

Kindly confirm,

Regards,

Hi Farkath,

Yes, you don't need two smd agents for one SAP system. You can uninstall one agent (SMD).

If I'm correct the change in parameter value is because of the versions. in Older version (SMD) the value would have been as server but whereas in newer version (DAA, DIA) the value is Java.
