Hello Gurus,
my boss asked to investigate the following scenario and i would like your opinion (as Abaper my option would be "develop a custom report" but i want to avoid this!)
I got the phantom assembly (PhAs) with an alternative BOM created in CS01
PhAs Alt 1
Item | Component | Qty |
---|---|---|
10 | Component1 | 20 |
20 | RawMaterial1 | 30 |
30 | RawMaterial2 | 10 |
PhAs Alt 2
Item | Component | Qty |
---|---|---|
10 | RawMaterial2 | 20 |
20 | RawMaterial5 | 30 |
30 | RawMaterial7 | 10 |

Then I would like to add these Alternarives into my FinishProduct BOM.
I would like to create 2 different Alternatives for my Finish Product, creating the subsequential Production Version, each one pointing to PhAs Alt1 or PhAs Alt2.
This because I want to be able to "lock" (via Production Version) one way to produce my Finish Product.
It's possible? There is any setup I have to perform?
When i try to create my Finish Product alternatives, they always points to Alt 1 for my Phantom Assembly.
i'm investigating the concept of Alternative Components but I'm not getting how i can achieve the trick to lock an alternative instead of the other.

Hello Simone
Generally, when there are several production versions created for a material and for a phantom, system will try to read the phantom productionve with the same key than the finished product PV.
For example, if there are production versions 0001 and 0002 for the finished product and you select version 0002 for the finished product, system will first try to read version 0002 for the phantom. If it does not exist, then it reads the first available. Please observe that you must define on the material master that the BOM should be selected according to the PV.
