Can any tell what do you mean by an Archive?

Hi,

Archive means extensive collection of data.

In netweaver,"Archive " folder will have the "database data files".

Whenever a database is created, database data files are stored in the form of <b>archive files</b> and log transaction data are stored in "<b>logical log</b>" backup folder.

So,when database is to restored,first archive folder is restored.

Hi,

Archieve in SAP has the normal dictionary meaning.

But it can be taken in a few ways.

First it can be taken as zipped files which are collated together for patching and stuffs like that.

It can be storing the old data files in the database for future reference. Yet agin these are archeived.
