Storing Documents on an External Server

My client currently stores files on a network drive. Instead of moving all of the files to DMS, Is there a way to leave the files where they are and just link to them?  Also, I have a BASIS team that is not that strong, If the connection is possible, is it an RFC connection to the external server?

Hi,

Can you try attaching document from that folder and access the same in another system, but don't store it content server.

You need to have unlock status in DMS, Since the documents will be viewed from the path in case if you don't that in content server.

This solution may or may not work, Check and let me know if works:)

If this solution does not work then you need to use BAPI CREATE2 and store document from the existing server to content server. Give link from external folder when upload.
