Can SAP PI connect to SQL Express?

Dear Experts,

I have an urgent requirement to connect to SQL Express server and fetch data.

Could anyone please tell me if PI can connect with SQL Express server.

In recent past I have connected and interacted with many DB servers using SAP PI, like SQL (standard edition),Oracle etc.but while connecting with SQL express its giving error .

We tried to do a workaround by linking the SQL Express server to SQL Edition server via a link server .In  this case,when I login to SQL edition server and run a qery on Database which is present in Express server it works!.But when I try to do the same thing via PI it gives login error.We verified many times that creds are correct.

Any inputs to solve the above issue?

What is the error you are getting? Is it connection refused? Check if this is in place
