FIORI Launchpad and SAP Business Client 6.0

Hello Experts, We are trying to enable Fiori Launchpad as a single point of entry for our users as per the recommended SAP UX strategy going forward. We have a Fiori starter pack RDS where around 100 Fiori apps are delivered. Apart from those, our users want access to backend transactions using business client 6.0. We are confused about the SAP Business Client 6.0 integration. Specific questions are:

1) Do we need a separate business client installation on the user machines and laptops? OR Can we just enable the business Client 6.0 tile on Fiori launchpad and call the launchpad as a web URL shortcut from the user machines. Ideally if that can be achieved, we don't need a heavy footprint of the Business Client (which needs SAP GUI 7.40) and the the deployment is extremely simple.

2) Should Fiori Launchpad (with SBC 6.0 tile) be the single point of entry OR the SBC 6.0 should be a single point of entry with Fiori launchpad connection.

Please share your valuable Point of View and if the first question as mentioned above can be addressed by eliminating the need to separate SBC(SAP GUI) installation, can someone please point me to the step by step guide please.

Thanks for your help!!

Hi Ganesh,

For accessing backend transactions in Fiori, Screen Personas is the recommended and ideal solution from SAP. You can launch SAP transactions from Fiori and use screenpersonal make the look& feel consitent. it will benifit in having a single point of entry, no client side and multiple installations.

Thanks,

Mahesh

Thank you Jocelyn, as per the document, it looks like we don't need a separate installation of business client 6.0. Launchpad has embedded support for native SAP GUI or business client for windows and we can create a tile to call native transactions. The prerequisites "UI add-on 2.0 SPS01 / SAP_UI 750 SP01 frontend server for native SAP GUI support" has to be completed.

Is this understanding correct? I will test this once everything is installed at our end.

Thanks much for your response.
