Hi
Customer is interested in Afaria MDM but he wants to ensure that his requirements are covered by Afaria for all Andriod Devices
Customer requirement as below:
1- Afaria is to push and deploy application update to all devices
2- Afaria policies to be applied for all Android devices brands, customer notice that Afaria concentrate on Samsung Devices in its DEMOs while customer will use various Android base Devices. So wants confirmation for supporting all brands
3- Afaria policy is to enable GPS on devices and user cannot switch it off
4- Apply policy to disable Rest factory function in devices
5- Devices will be Dual SIM, so he wants to apply policy to enable only 1 SIM card and disable the other SIM
So Appreciate your support to get detailed clarification for above requirements supported with recorded DEMO if exist
thanks
Hello Abdul,
Thank you for contacting SAP Community Network.
You reach the customer requirements, initially you have to take a look at SAP Afaria documents. Go to help.sap.com ->Technology Platform -> SAP Afaria.
Go to any of the service packs listed and go to Device Management. It will help you to understand all the features enabled in SAP Afaria.
Moreover, we have many youtube videos on how to provision a device. Here is the link to that: Afaria 100: Introduction to Mobile Device Management with Afaria - YouTube
1. We can push applications(both playstore and enterprise) through Android Application Policy and can also push the updates to all the devices about the app.
2. Afaria will always support the Android OS versions but not Samsung devices in particular.
Check this doc http://help.sap.com/Download/Multimedia/pdf-afaria7sp13/Afaria_system_requirements.pdf and go to Device Requirement for better understanding.
3. Initially, you can enable the Device Activity in Server -> Configuration in afraia Admin Console for all type of devices. For Android devices, go to Configuration Policy -> Samsung Safe/LG -> Location Policy -> enable the GPS.
To restrict the user not to make changes to GPS, go to Config Policy -> Samsung Safe -> Restriction Policy -> Allow changes to settings to NO
4. Here also same, for Andriod devices you can go to Config Policy -> Restriction Policy -> Set the Factory Reset settings to NO
5. Should check this functionality yet.
Hope this clears all your queries.
Kind Regards,
Sushmitha

In general, what Afaria can and cannot do on a mobile device depends on the APIs that are available for that device. Some "device brands" do not offer the same rich set functionalities.
