Hi,
We want to migrate system from
Solaris/Oracle 10.2.0.2 and Linux/Oracle 11.2.0.4
Do we need to do Oracle upgrade?
I mean can we use export from source system which is on 10.2.0.4 for target system which on 11.2.0.4?
Best regards,
Arpit
No need to upgrade the database prior to the OS migration. You can export the source system without upgrading the database and set up the target database with Oracle 11G. All you need to make sure is the target system is setup with a kernel that supports the target system OS and DB.

Hello Arpit,
You have multiple options:
- Do first the Oracle upgrade and after that a heterogeneous copy from Solaris to Linux.
- Do first the heterogeneous copy from Linux to Solaris and after that the Oracle upgrade.
It is not recommended idea to export from Oracle 10g and import on a new system on Oracle 11g.

Hi Arpit.
I think yes, you can perform the Heterogeneous system copy method. it SAP standard export the source and import the same to target. If possible you can try out in sandbox or test system.
refer the SAP System copy guide.

Hi Arpit,
No you should not. You land up in multiple issues.
Ideal path is upgrade you DB and than migrate.
