Can SAP alone archive documents such as PDFs

Hi DMS technologists,

I'm new to archiving, and I have a request to archive documents as well as a way to manage the versions using SAP DMS.  I am searching for a clear simple answer if it is possible with just SAP DMS or do we need a third party software like Documentum, IXOS or OpentText?

As well if someone can explain at a high level the process to do so?

Thanks,

Alan

Hi Alan,

DMS is meant for storing document in an content repository. In case you need to implement document archiving you need to have a solution called doculink from OpenText or similar solution from other vendors.

Hi Keepak,

Thank you for you answer.  Are you 100% sure?

I see threads that said we could use archivelink to archive the documents without a 3rd party tool?  I tried to follow the setup but most of the threads are incomplete with the configuration.

So that is why i'm asking the experts on here.

Thanks,

Alan

Hi Alan Thai,

Incase if you need archiving with version management use OTAS with KPRO interface.

SAP DMS doesn’t provide archiving of documents.
