Best Practice set up - Is Vertex required

We are activating the best practice package for the US.

One of the first packages is - US_BD3_OP - with JA2 relating to creating BP's

We are getting an error - at this stage as it seems to require Vertex to be linked to load the Jurisdiction information for tax.

Do we need to have Vertex running to get passed this step?

If we do not need Vertex - is there a step for the non-Vertex config to be loaded?

Hello Mark,

When we did the US best practices implementation in a demo s4 hana 1511 system about 1.5 months back, i skipped the vertex integration part everywhere .

Now, i have a demo system provided by SAP as a part of Demo21 (without vertex integration and with US best practices ). Even on this system, the Vertex configuration was skipped as the particular step in the building block is marked in red without a short text.

Thanks - however taking out the Vertex config - you still need to manually configure codes to ensure the BP's post.

Would be good for there to be a non- Vertex option here.

Section 4 of the SAP note 2247743 - Information on the installation of SAP Best Practices S/4HANA on premise edition (USA) (USV2) is now updated to provide guidance how to activate without the Vertex integration. It also provides manual tax configuraiton amendments (without Vertex integration).
