BICS error in WebI Rich Client

Hi Everyone,

we have one strange problem, we are using BW BICS connection that works good in Webi via BI launchpad, but same connection doesn't works in Webi Rich Client for same user, it seems to be client and user machine specific.  for same user it was working good in Webi Rich Client few days back.

anybody have faced this kind of problem before, any idea?

it seems to be problem from local machine or webi rich client logs or cache memory.

Even for predefined user BICS connection also have same problem.

Hi,

Has there been any patch update on Windows or change in middleware version on user's machine?

It is quite evident that the issue is coming on only one machine with all users. Is the BW middleware version compatible with BO?

If you log onto the affected machine with windows admin credentials and try the same workflow, does the issue persist?

It seems like it is working on other client machines. If yes, can you please compare the BW middleware versions and check if there is any difference.

In addition to this, are you able to execute same BEx query on affected machine from BEx Analyzer successfully?

no patch or middleware update happened in recent date,when problem started.

problem started in many users machine especially belongs to particular domain, any user BO login doesn't work in these effected user machine.BW middleware compatible with BO where we could able to create new BICS connection.

Admin user login also getting same error

BW middleware versions is same between working and non working machine.

Yes, BEx query is successfully in the effected user machine.

I mean, German region users are facing problem, that to user those re-installed OS in their machine.

are facing, very strange issue.

Hi Ganesha,

What is the client version installed on these machines?

What is the exact BO version used?

On the basis of BO version, could you please check if the Windows version on client machines is compatible and supported in supported platform guide?

we are using BO 4.1 SP5 Patch 3, both server and client versions are same.

window 7 is client OS, it should be compatible with BO4.1 platform

Try 1) Check the driver entries for those system and compare with the working system

       2) Update roles in CMC for BW

and see if it can resolve or not.

thanks for reply.

It is machine specific and region specific, issue is relates to specific user belongs to DE user, same user login in APAC machine it works.

I have deleted the BW role and imported again, still have same problem.

Ganesha,

      There are several reason the problem can occur:

  • Is your BW system behind firewall ?
  • You will need to update the SERVICE file, located C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
  • Is SAP Gui installed on PC and are you able to login?

Ganesha,

     You would still need to make changes to the SERVICE files if you connecting to BW direct from WebI rich-client.  You should check with you IT / BOBJ Admin team.

Hi Ajay,

problem only with few users belongs to one domain. I doesn't have problem that I can use same BICS connection in Webi Rich Client. what we have to add in SERVICE, is the IP/port of BW machine.

thanks for reply.

users have all necessary roles.and user able to connect same connection in BI launchpad. only problem when user try to use same connection in Webi Rich Client, in same user machine I tried with different user by login to Rich client, for those user login also shows same error. If those user when they tried in their machine, it works perfectly.

Effected user uninstalled the client tool  and install it again, but still have the problem after the re-installation.

I suspect some things which point wrong in local machine, seems to local appdata.
