Hi Yonten,

Please check below sap notes

2250144 - Unable to connect ERP application server to HANA Database

1828028 - DBCON connection to remote HANA database cannot be established

Check for logs in /var/log/messages for any suspicious entries regarding user authentication.

Hi Yonten,

The error log clearly says this is an authentication error. Have you changed any of the SSFS or DB user password ? If so, you need to update the password in application layer by following command.

hdbuserstore set default <dbhost>:<dbport> <dbuser> <dbpassword>

Then run following command to check

hdbuserstore list

Let me know if it worked.

Hello,

We have changed the Default SSFS master keys on HANA. Do we have to change the key again after upgrades.

please help!

Are you sure that you are running rev. 100? By looking at the R3trans output I would assume that you are on rev 102, most likely maintenance rev. 02:

"Database release is HDB 1.00.102.02.1446663129"

Is it possible that your R3trans version is out of date?

This message puzzles me:

"Min. version for this release must be 1.00.62 ". 1.00.102 is indeed a higher version than 1.00.62, so it might be a bug in R3trans (or somewhere around in the startup scripts) which is caused by the 3 digit version.

Dear Nitsch,

Yes, your right, it is sps10 revision 102. I forgot to upgrade HANA client on application side after upgrading on HANA Server. May be this could be the reason.

Is this the caused of issue?

Hi Yonten,

You are advised to upgrade to patch 110 rather than 102 as there is a performance bug in 102 which can cause very slow response times (in certain situations).  This won't fix the R3trans error, but if you are upgrading, then go to the latest version.

I'm not sure if the older HANA client version is causing this error, but you should upgrade the client version anyway. (see eg. SAP note 2275609: "If you upgrade from a lower SAP HANA SPS, it is recommended to update ALL other components (Studio, ..., DB Clients, ...) to at least the minimal version of SAP HANA SPS 10")

Dear Thorsten,

Just to inform you that i have upgraded the HANA_DB Client as well but the results are same.

It was connecting fine before upgrading time but after restarting the database then it started not working. But my other servers are working fine.

please help!

What about the R3trans version?

Have you checked if there is a newer version available?

If so, I would give it a try.

BTW: Which OS are you using for the NetWeaver part? (just curious :-))

Hi Yonten,

This is a known error from SPS 09 onwards where the revision indicator has changed to 3 places (1.XX.XXX). Its a clear indication from trans.log that you are using old DBSL version. Please make sure your patch level is latest for 742 release. Upgrade your kernel on application server and that will fix the issue.

Thanks

Dear Dash,

I have upgraded the kernel on application server to latest and could solved the issue of " R3trans -d" but when i start the sap system it still gives Database is not available via R3trans.

Kindly help on this.

Dear Nitsch,

We are using SuSE linux 11 sp2 and our Hana database is in sp3.

Is this because of different SP?

No, that should make no difference.
